Russian Emergency Minister held meeting with Portuguese economy minister Manuel Caldeira Cabral

Co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov and Portugal’s Minister of Economy Manuel Caldeira Cabral met today in Portugal.

During the meeting the two ministers approved the issues and working plan of the joint commission on economic, industrial and technical cooperation between Russia and Portugal.

Experts of the two countries discussed cooperation in civil protection, disaster management, foreign-policy relations between the two countries, condition of trade, economic and investment cooperation.

Mr. Puchkov said that the members of the Russian part of the commission worked out modern approaches and ideas to have a constructive dialogue with their Portuguese counterparts. He added that there is an efficient platform to take Russia-Portugal relations to a higher level.

The Russian Minister also said that Russia and Portugal have historical and cultural relationship and some experience of mutually profitable trade partnership.

“We have good outlooks for efficient cooperation. I hope that we and our Portuguese colleagues will reach agreements to take our relationship to a new level,” Mr. Puchkov said during the meeting.

In turn Mr. Caldeira expressed his confidence that the projects of bilateral cooperation will help to solve different economic problems, stimulate growth of production and creation of new technologies.
